signs that summer is making making way for fall

the crepe myrtles release their blossoms like a gently falling fuchsia snow.

the sky loses a bit of that white-fade it tends to fancy in the summer months and returns to a deep blue.

the trees are exhibiting the fullest expression of green.  right before their autumnal grand finale.

the honeycrisp apple makes her debut.

grace, lately

little tokens and wishes at the buddha on the porch.

a lotus pod symbolizes the sanctuary of community where the seeds of creativity and expression are nurtured.  sometimes this seems so far away.  and then there is it, right in front of me.

sometimes my introversion feels more like misanthropy and it frightens me.  i nearly lost my sh!t in the supermarket because...well....some humans, ugh!  i looked up and saw these three jesuses sweetly reminding me of goodness.

doodling mandalas regulates all kinds of things:  breath, heartbeat, mindblur, wild mood swings, introversion/misanthropy imbalances.

a perfect lotus, a latebloomer.  message received.

this summer week

a good story, passion tea and cherries.

peach soft-serve, dipped, with sprinkles.

the first blackberries.  and persistent strawberries.

six knock-off tolix chairs, purchased on clearance, each painted a different hue.  the turquoise is my favorite.

coconut water infused with mint, lime and cucumber.

morning meditation.

thunderstorms and rainbows.

it's a good summer.

color and the city {the instagrams}

i wandered around the american museum of natural history for a good part of one whole day.  this is an unusually quiet moment as i was sharing the museum with about two thousand new york city school children.  it was good to see kids get excited about rocks and things.

we were in the city for ten days and it only rained once.  for about twelve hours.  torrentially.  like umbrellas-turned-inside-out-and-ankle-deep-puddles torrential.  exploring was not interrupted.  not for one second.

fashion district wall o' ribbon.

i shot about a hundred photos of subway tile.  because you've just got to celebrate good signage.  it's totally a thing of the past.

minerals are pretty.

i escaped the crowds on 5th and experienced peace and awe and mass at st. pat's.

next visit i am going to find all the murals.  all of them.

of all the jaw-dropping-amazingness at moma, this one was my favorite.  spanish head composition by george condo, 1988.

how to love a gypsy job

1.  choose the best navigation system so you don't lose your way.

2.  seek out rainbows and blue skies.

3.  eat pancakes.

4.  when you miss your home remember that love can be found anywhere and everywhere.

5.  greet the day with gratitude.  and yoga.

6.  hotel rooms are bland and plastic...find sparkle and warmth.

7.  make it a quest to discover the best pho (veggie burger, margarita, etc.) in each city you frequent.

8.  explore on foot.

9.  show a classic roadside diner some love.

10.  every town has a main street.  shop and eat local no matter where you are.

11.  when you spot a brightly painted barn on the side of the highway, slow down, pull over and say hello.
