wtf weekend (insert your choice of expletive)

my first ____ $50 tank of gas.

g-dub: your ____ stimulus check does nothing to offset the ____ ridiculousness of the ____ economic crisis you have left us in. I really resent having to work hard all ____ week to pay for your ____ personal wars and other ____ pet projects. this is insult to injury. having to pretend you didn't exist (see me with fingers in ears singing "god bless america" at the top of my lungs, closing my eyes and thinking, "this is not happening, this is not happening") for eight ____ years and now this! how many days are left of your ____ regime?

apathy, be gone! I'm in for the change! (and a little embarrassed that it took something cutting into my shopping budget to become politically engaged again.)

clearly, there was some anger behind all that denial.

wtf? wednesday

I couldn't even put up a photo of him with this post, I find him so hideous. I didn't want him here, peering like the monster he is, lording it over the cute maryjanes, paisley dress, and supersweet swinging girl. the fact is that he just doesn't belong in my beautiful world. there is no place for him. at the sight of him, I am thrown into immediate loathing and protective mode. wha? huh? who let him in here? there he is everyday, everywhere: loud, obnoxious, bullying.

I am writing of the (dare I speak the name) dodge ram crew cab pickup and any other of the beastly giant suv-truck monsters that litter and pollute our roads (figuratively and literally). I just don't understand why someone (anyone!) needs to drive a vehicle larger then a military tank on quiet suburban roads or tight city streets. what is going on in your life that a regular car or truck just won't meet your needs?

I am not even going to get into the environmental side of this because I can't stop pondering what it is that people who research, purchase and drive these vehicles are thinking/compensating for. I often think that maybe the answer is that they have chosen a vehicle that is an extension of their personality (or lack thereof). which would explain all the aggressive tailgating, constant rumbling and ridiculous misunderstanding of those yellow lines in the parking lot.

some say that a vehicle this size is needed for all the stuff. hauling all the stuff. now, I am a great appreciator of stuff, but I've never had the need for that much stuff in one trip.

some say they're necessary for large families. pioneer woman has one, I've seen it on her blog. yeah, but she has four kids, is married to a real live cowboy and lives on a working cattle ranch. that should be the minimum criteria for the purchase of one of these beasts. she has to contend with real live bulls for pete's sake. and the truck really seems to be happy there, in his natural habitat.

must run, the blue giant across the street just woke from his slumber, which tells me it's time to be off for work. hey, they do serve a purpose...

WTF? wednesday

This little blog has been such a nice departure from my day job. I've filled it with things that are happy, whimsical, inspiring, pretty. But those who know me understand that there is another side to me. I can be quite sardonic, sarcastic and sometimes downright mean. I try really hard to make sense of the world and get very impatient with really stupid people and ideas. The dark side keeps trying to sneak it's way into this space, so I thought I would commit a weekly (or less) post to those things I find silly, condescending or that I feel have no place on a thinking woman's planet. I'm not going to take on the big issues, just little annoyances...things that make me think WTF?

First up: the double bathtubs in the cialis commercials. It's bad enough that I have to be bombarded with multiple messages about ED (thank you, Tivo!), but what is with the double bathtubs? They are in every single cialis commercial. All the couples are enjoying precoital activities (you know, the usual walking in the forest, washing the dishes together, petting each other's faces) and they all end up in separate bathtubs OUTSIDE. The white couple's bathtubs overlook a Pacific sunset, the black couple is bathing in what appears to be the Everglades. Where are these bathtubs? Who does this? Maybe their choice of foreplay activities has something to do with the presenting issue.

I told you it wasn't going to be about the big issues.
